395-X-2-.09 Examinations


The intended purpose of the exams provided for by this rule are for Alabama licensing only. Each applicant wishing to take these exams must sign a written statement acknowledging this purpose and acknowledging that the results of this exam may or may not be accepted by another state for reciprocity, endorsement or any other purpose. The passing score on any exam administer by the Board shall be 75%. The Funeral Director or Embalmer exam will consist of 125 items and the applicant will be allowed 150 minutes to complete either exam. Applicants that are applying for a funeral director or embalmer’s license will take a law exam on the entire law. If you take or have taken the funeral director and embalmer’s LRR exam and successfully passed it with a score of 75%, you will not be required to take the Cremationist LRR Exam for a cremationist license.

Applicants that fail to appear for a registered exam at the required time will forfeit the registration fee. Applicants that cancel their registration prior to the scheduled deadline may defer the registration to only one future exam.

Alabama Funeral Director exam 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Alabama Embalmer exam 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Laws, Rules, and Regulations exam 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
Applicants shall be checked in at the testing location no less than 15 minutes prior to the exam.
